The region outperforms in areas such as Human Capital and Knowledge Creation, with the core urban concentrations of Macon and Warner Robins being especially strong. The region is home to the Robins Air Force Base, which is now supporting new digital engineering systems and advanced battle management missions, in addition to its long-standing role as a manufacturing maintenance industrial complex. The region has an impressive concentration of higher education institutions that produce approximately 7,000 STEM degree graduates a year.
The Middle Georgia Innovation corridor consists of a dynamic innovation community which brings together elements of the Middle Georgia region into both a geographic and conceptual space. These elements include defense, manufacturing, industry, educational institutions, innovators and healthcare. Collaboration across these elements within the innovation corridor will drive transformational activities which will deliver and attract world class talent and economic opportunity.
Now is the time to launch the corridor as Robins Air Force Base accelerates with new missions, there has been a rapid adoption and acceleration of new technologies across the region and there is a desire across the region to collaborate and develop the Middle Georgia innovation corridor.
